winterhorseback_920x720

The classic western holiday spirit begins the moment guests arrive at Triple Creek Ranch and check into their private cabin, festively arranged with a freshly cut and decorated Christmas tree, a fire burning in the wood stove, a luxurious four poster log bed and a private alfresco Jacuzzi on the deck. If they choose to leave this cozy mountain hideaway, it will be for an afternoon horseback ride under the snow-covered pines of the Montana Rockies, or to join a cooking class with a chef who’s presented at the James Beard House, followed by a multi-course dinner paired with the perfect wine from an award-winning cellar. That’s the gift of the holidays at Triple Creek Ranch, where winter brings the scent of wood smoke, the sparkling lights of holiday decorations and the intimacy of a resort with just 24 private guest cabins. Triple Creek Ranch was voted the World’s Best Hotel by the readers of Travel + Leisure in 2014 and recently named the Best Hotel in the World by Business Insider.

Triple Creek Ranch welcomes Cyril and Blakesley Chappellet of Napa Valley’s famed Chappellet Winery to this year’s Thanksgiving celebration. They will pair their award-winning wines with Executive Chef Jacob Leatherman’s holiday menu, which promises a traditional feast enhanced by Chef Jake’s innovative touches evoking the flavors of the Rocky Mountain West. The vaulted ceilings of the Dining Room will soar over an elegantly decorated table that spans the length of the room, so that Thanksgiving dinner can be enjoyed “family style” for all those gathered at the Ranch for the holiday. Second only to the Thanksgiving feast, is the Scavenger Hunt on horseback that will include archery, sapphire panning, and successful operation of an old-time apple press. Chef Jake and Executive Pastry Chef Natasha Platt will also host special holiday cooking school classes over the weekend, which will include a lesson in the all-American art of holiday pie making.

A Christmas in Montana with Western Artist Carol Hagan
Dec 22-27, 2015

Christmas at Triple Creek Ranch is a festive time when the ranch is decked out in elaborate holiday lights and decorations. Guests can experience a true cowboy Christmas, with activities ranging from horseback riding to skiing in the Montana Rockies. They sit down to a celebratory dinner Christmas Day, prepared by Executive Chef Jacob Leatherman and paired with wines chosen by sommelier Jeremy White. Each one of the 24 cabins, decorated with its own complimentary Christmas tree (real or artificial upon request), has a welcoming wood-burning fireplace. This year, Triple Creek Ranch invites its guests to celebrate “A Christmas in Montana with Western Artist Carol Hagan,” who will unveil her latest original canvas work in the beloved “Christmas in Montana” series.

horseswithbows_960x640Carol is a longtime friend of Triple Creek Ranch and a popular, lively instructor for the fall Artist Workshop Weekends. A premier Western artist and a veteran of many museum and gallery shows, her work can be found in private and corporate collections around the country, and her distinctive paintings can be found throughout the ranch. During the past 23 years, she has created a series of seven “Christmas in Montana” paintings. Until now, she has sold limited edition giclee prints and lithographs, while the original painting has
always been kept in her family. This year, Carol has decided that the seventh painting, created in 2015 after a 10 year hiatus, will be offered for auction at Triple Creek Ranch. All of the auctions proceeds will go directly to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research and the Montana Parkinson’s Foundation. Online Bidding will open on December 1 and run until 6:00 p.m. (Mountain Standard Time) on December 24, with the winner announced live at Triple Creek Ranch at 7:00pm.

While Carol is in residence at the Ranch for the Christmas holiday, she will offer complimentary group lessons for guests. For the first time ever, Carol will also offer a limited number of private lessons for a fee, which will also be donated directly to the Parkinson’s organizations.
