GUIDED HIKE TO KAYAK MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE
Why just hike, when you can float too!
Experience the Bitterroot backcountry like never before on this guided hike to kayak, packrafting float tour.
Taking the trail less less traveled, you’ll go for a gorgeous hike along a glacial canyon, where you’ll see and learn about local flora & fauna, like Bear Grass & Pika. An alpine lake awaits at your destination, where you’ll enjoy lunch, then inflate your packrafts and hit the waters of Camas lake for a relaxing float. You can even set aside time to fish if you like, or take a dip & enjoy swimming in the cool, refreshing lake waters! After taking plenty of time to relax, swim, fish, float, and explore the area surrounding the lake, you’ll pack up and head back down to the trailhead.
Packrafting experiences are available during our spring & summer seasons, as weather allows. Tours are $180 per guest with private excursions available for an additional fee, can accommodate groups up to 10 participants, and are available May through September as weather permits. For all packrafting excursions guests will drive themselves in their own vehicle from Triple Creek Ranch to meet their guide. Before you leave for your journey we will be happy to supply bottled water, picnic lunches, sunscreen, insect repellant, and anything else you may need to enjoy your epic adventure. Your guide will carry two raft setups, a first aid kit, gps communicator, water filtration system, bear spray, snacks, coffee & tea. Additional raft setups and backpacks can be provided as needed. At Camas Creek Trailhead, you’ll pack ultralight day packs with rafts, life jackets, raft paddles, and other hiking gear along with your personal items (less than 10 lb.). You’ll then review hiking safety precautions with your guide, who will also remind the group to ‘Leave No Trace’ during the journey!
Looking for a challenge?
The hike to the Camas lake is 3 miles each way, out-and-back, and climbs 1,100 ft. in elevation, to a total elevation of 6,600 ft. Groups who find the first half of this hike to be easy can opt for ‘bonus hiking’ where you will venture off-trail to higher lakes. Hiking to these higher lakes can be exciting forays into the wilderness, for groups with a high fitness level, and previous hiking experience. These extended hikes add 2 miles and 500 ft of elevation gain from the original Camas lake destination.
