The Bitterroot National Forest is a hiker’s paradise. Hiking Trails from the ranch are plentiful, with even more trails located off ranch to alpine destinations. Enjoy hikes along streams, cascading falls, alpine lakes or to the top of the tallest peak in the Bitterroots. Our Chefs will be happy to pack a lunch of your choice in handy backpacks for you to take along.
Self Guided Hiking
You can begin right outside the door of your cabin and explore endless acres into the Bitterroot National Forest for more options and longer hikes. Many off-ranch trails are available for all levels of ability. Hiking to Baker Lake, a secluded alpine lake; Trapper Peak, the highest peak in the Bitterroot Mountain range; Boulder Falls, a cascading fall accessible only by foot or by horse, these are just a few of the many hikes available. Hiking off property will require guests to provide their own vehicle transportation to travel to the hiking location. Whether you choose a ranch hike or an outing off property, we will be happy to supply pre-loaded GPS trackers, trail maps, backpacks, bottled water, picnic lunches, sunscreen, and insect repellant.
Guided Hiking
Custom private guided hiking experiences are also available. These excursions are offered by an experienced local guide at an additional fee, and are booked directly by you so that the entire hike may be fully customized for your individual interests, ability level, & desired hiking time. Your Pre-Arrival Concierge or Activity Director will be happy to assist you in connecting with them to create a new & exciting adventure every time!
About Bitterroot Alpine Guides
Bitterroot Alpine Guides provides inspired outdoor pursuits in the Bitterroot and Sapphire mountains of western Montana. Their professional guiding services bring an intimate knowledge of the landscape, wildlife, plants and human history of the region. Your guide will take care of all the details ensuring you have a safe, rewarding and fun adventure. All hikes are customized to your specific interests and goals. These fully customized private guided hikes are dependent on availability. Half day hikes up to 3 hours, are $325 (1 or 2 persons), and an additional $65 for each additional guest. Full day hikes: 4-8 hours $450, (1 or 2 persons), and an additional $90 for each additional guest. All hikes include a professional naturalist guide, transfer to and from the ranch, healthy snacks and water, custom trip planning, safety equipment, post trip snacks and beverages. Lunch is provided upon request. Guests contact BAG directly to arrange the day and hiking destination based on their desired experience.
