Cross Country

Enjoy the groomed trails of the Chief Joseph Pass Trail system, which is a short thirty-five minute drive from the ranch and meticulously maintained by the Bitterroot Cross Country Ski Club. Our Guest Experience Planners will be happy to outfit you with the proper equipment for your adventure. If you decide you’d like to make a day of it, the kitchen will pack a lunch for you. Revel in 25 km of well-groomed trails ranging from beginner to advanced along the Continental Divide. Just a mile from the trailhead, a beautiful log cabin is available for guests to eat their lunch or just warm up by the cozy fire. Nearby, backcountry skiers can enjoy the Old Anderson Mountain Road which is a section of the Continental Divide Trail.

A stay at our luxurious all-inclusive ranch resort means we offer a complimentary ski shuttle while you enjoy your favorite warm beverage and freshly baked cookies to and from the mountain. All cross-country skiing equipment is available at Triple Creek Ranch along with trail maps and a never-ending supply of groomed trails in close proximity.

A little closer to the ranch is the recently created Lavene Creek loop trail system, miles of varied terrain that is ideal for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and fat tire biking! Downhill

Spend the day on top of the world skiing the Continental Divide on the Montana-Idaho border. Whether your pleasure is downhill or cross-country, only 30 minutes from the ranch, skiers will enjoy rural western ‘cowboy’ skiing in the Northern Rockies. For Alpine skiing and snowboarding, Lost Trail Powder Mountain Ski Resort offers 50+ runs, summit elevation of 8,200 ft., base elevation of 6,400 ft., a vertical drop of 1,800 ft. and an average snowfall of 300 inches per year. Known for its ‘lifts without lines’ and daily fresh powder, you will not be disappointed with “Montana’s Greatest Snow Place.”

The mountain generally opens in early December and runs through the end of March (conditions permitting). Lifts operate “powder” Thursday through Sunday and daily throughout the holidays. Extended holiday hours include Martin Luther King Day and President’s Day. Full ski and snowboard equipment rentals are available as well as demos and group or private lessons. Lost Trail opens at 9:30am and closes at 4:00pm.
