Guided Fly Fishing

Expert guides are ready to take you fishing on the Bitterroot and Salmon Rivers

Fly Fishing Always on the Bitterroot

Whether a beginner, intermediate or expert, float with an experienced guide down the Bitterroot River, or its West Fork or East Fork for a memorable day of trout fishing. The Guides at Fly Fishing Always are renown in the valley for their historic and extensive knowledge of these waters. These guides are experts on the hatches and proper flies to use, whether it’s an old faithful such as Big Freddy or whatever it might take to catch the big fish.

In order to protect and preserve the stream-bred trout of the Bitterroot’s blue-ribbon waters, all fishing is catch and release. Please note, the months of May and June can be high water with limited fishing and scenic float availability due to snow melt. Complimentary fishing gear is available from Triple Creek Ranch and your guide will furnish the rods, reels, flies and his/her expertise. Your guide will meet you in the Activity Center of the lodge at your scheduled time. Some guides have boat dogs. If you would prefer not to have a boat dog, please let us know upon booking your trip. Half day and full day guided river floats are priced from $480 to $570. A 24-hour cancellation fee of 50% is enforced. A Montana Fishing License is required for fishing on the river, and our Activity Coordinators will be happy to help you procure one. Availability is somewhat flexible with as little as a day’s notice, though we recommend you reserve trip(s) in advance to ensure a preferred guide or a preferred day. Guides will meet guests in the Activity Center at their scheduled time.

Rawhide River Trips on the Salmon River

In July and August Rawhide Outfitters guides specialize in drift and wade fly fishing, dry or wet fly fishing and/or spin casting, depending on personal preference. You will drift through a lovely section of the Salmon River, occasionally stopping to wade good runs. Catch and release is encouraged. Anglers will tend to average 20 to 40 fish per day, rainbow and cutthroat trout ranging from 12 to 18 inches. Your guides will provide lunch for you to enjoy riverside. Guided fishing costs $600 for 1-2 people per boat and will be added to your cabin invoice. An Idaho fishing license is also required, which Rawhide River Trips will happily purchase for you at the current state mandated rate at the time of your adventure. Guests drive themselves just an hour and fifteen minutes from Triple Creek Ranch to meet their guide at North Fork, Idaho. Cancellation within 48 hours is full price. Complimentary rain gear and wading equipment is available from Triple Creek Ranch.

Summer Trout Fly Fishing & Spin Casting on the Salmon River with Rawhide Outfitters is available in July and August.
