Cross Country Horseback Rides
Along with a Triple Creek Ranch wrangler, get a different perspective of the Bitterroot Valley on a cross country adventure ride in a variety of settings, including our beautiful 26,000 acre CB Ranch. Enjoy breathtaking mountain vistas, wildlife, such as herds of elk and deer; watch for bald eagles, golden eagles and waterfowl; check out our herd of bison and be ever alert to the rare glimpse of a wolf or mountain lion. Ride to the perfect overlook for a delicious packed lunch prepared by the kitchen.
Because of the mountainous terrain, our horses are guided at a leisurely walk and for the safety of our guests and horses we do not accept riders over 250 lbs. An additional fee of $150 per person is assessed and will be added to your cabin invoice.
In the event of bad weather, our wranglers may cancel the ride for safety reasons at no charge. If a guest cancels within 24 hours, a cancellation fee of $75 per person will be assessed unless others on the waiting list are available to fill in. Minimum of 2 riders.
Cross country horseback rides are available year round, depending on weather and terrain conditions.
Lewis & Clark Trail with Rawhide Outfitters
These leisurely horse rides traverse along a picturesque trail that was traveled by Lewis & Clark. With amazing views and wildlife, you will get a sense of what it must have been like for Lewis & Clark during their historic crossing. Reaching the summit, observe a panoramic view of the Continental Divide where a delicious picnic lunch is provided by Rawhide Outfitters. An additional fee of $170.00 (rates do not include a 6% Idaho sales tax) is assessed and payable to Rawhide Outfitters. Half day adventures $90 per person. Guests drive themselves, just an hour and fifteen-minutes from Triple Creek Ranch, to meet their guide at North Fork, Idaho at 9:30 am. If guest cancels within 24 hours a full price cancellation policy will be enforced by the outfitter. Minimum of 2 required. Lewis & Clark Trail Rides are offered Sunday through Friday from June to early-August depending on snow levels. Depart at 8:15 am and return in the afternoon at 4:00/5:00pm.
Swan Mountain Wilderness
For the extreme in backcountry horseback riding, guests can enjoy a one day trip into the Mission Mountain Range. This unique adventure gives guests the chance to fly over western Montana’s scenic Bitterroot Valley, Mission and Swan Mountain Ranges. From the point of take off till the excursion is over, take in the beautiful alpine lakes, waterfalls, crystal clear rivers and streams, and tranquil forests lush with ancient cedars and a variety of pines. Your adventure begins when the plane lands on the grassy Condon air strip near Swan Mountain in the Flathead Wilderness Management Area where a guide from Swan Mountain Outfitters is waiting to greet you. Here, privacy is plentiful and pristine, land is untrammeled, and you’ll encounter indigenous wildlife and amazing vistas. Ride towards the Bob Marshall Wilderness Area through seemingly endless forest landscape. This ride will open your eyes to some of the most remarkable views of majestic mountains near and far as well as untapped pristine waters. Private flight and Swan Mountain activity described above is $2,000 for two people which will be added to guest’s cabin invoice. Guests drive themselves to Hamilton Airport, just 40 minutes from Triple Creek Ranch. The Activities Coordinators will assist you in filling out a pack lunch to take with you on this adventure. Cancelation within 24 hours is full price. Swan Mountain Wilderness Horseback Riding Adventure is available June through October, depending on snow levels. The day begins at 8:15am and you’ll back at ranch by early evening (6:00/7:00pm) in time for dinner!
The Selway River is known as one of the most pristine rivers in America. Set forth with your gourmet pack lunch and your cowboy hat to fly into a road-less region of the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness to land at Running Creek Ranch air strip, where your guide will be waiting for you. The thirty minute flight to the banks of the Selway River takes you over the awe inspiring Bitterroot Mountains, then into the untraveled wilderness of Northern Idaho. Once on the ground, you will travel by horseback into the Selway National Forest or along the Selway River. An additional cost of $1,445 for 2 guests will be added to your cabin invoice. A fifty percent deposit is due upon booking. Cancellation within 48 hours is 50% or if within 24 hours, full price. Please note, because we can only fly into the wilderness, this adventure is subject to weather conditions. Guests drive themselves to Hamilton Airport, just 40 minutes from Triple Creek Ranch. Selway Wilderness Horseback Riding Adventures are available on select dates from June through October, depending on snow levels. Your day will begin at 8:15am and you’ll be back on ranch by about 7:00pm.
