Cattle Working Rides
Cattle Drives | Team Penning
Saddle up, move ’em in!
Team Penning
Enjoy a friendly competition on horseback! Teams of 3 participate in separating individual calves from the herd, and move those calves to a separate pen.
The sport of team penning grew out of the daily ranch chores of sorting calves from their cows so they can be vaccinated, branded or otherwise treated, the type of work that ranch hands still must do all year round. Team penning turns work into a participatory sport, and allows cowboys and cowgirls to showcase their horsemanship. Teamwork is key and every level of rider is welcome to participate and have fun!
Team Penning is a half day event. Guests will meet at the Rider’s Roost prior to departing for their experience with their driver for either our morning or afternoon session. This activity requires a Minimum of 3 riders, with a maximum of 6 guests per session.
Get ’em up, move ’em out!
Cattle Drives
For a thrilling adventure that leaves you with a sense of accomplishment, there is nothing like a cattle drive to bring out your inner cowboy or cowgirl! Enjoy a day on the range herding cattle the old-fashioned way.
Cattle drives are a full day event. Guests meet the Wranglers at the Rider’s Roost prior to departing for the event, then take a break midday to enjoy a gourmet packed lunch, and get back in the saddle to finish the job before heading back to the ranch in the late afternoon… leaving enough time for a relaxing soak in the hot tub or a refreshing dip in the pool before dinner!
To take part in this activity all guests are required to ride on-ranch prior to participating. This is when our wranglers assess your riding ability and answer any questions you may have prior to the event.
Cattle Drives are the most requested activity at Triple Creek Ranch, and we limit the number of guests on each drive from a minimum of 4 to a maximum of eight riders to ensure a fulfilling experience, so we do recommend that you reserve your space on a cattle drive right away when you reserve your cabin. Guests who are unable to participate due to availability may be waitlisted should any cancellations occur.
General Information
Cattle Working Rides are scheduled from June through September. An additional fee of $150 for Team Penning or $300 for Cattle Drives per person is assessed and will be added to your cabin invoice. In the event of bad weather, our wranglers may cancel the ride for safety reasons at no charge. If a guest cancels within 24 hours, a 50% cancellation fee per person will be assessed unless others on the waiting list are available to fill in. For the safety of our guests and horses we cannot accept riders over 250 lbs.
